» Marilyn DeLaure (PhD, University of Iowa) is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at the University of San Francisco. Her research explores how people work to effect social change, focusing specifically on embodied performance. She has published essays on dance, civil rights rhetoric, and environmental activism.

» Elena Esquibel (PhD, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale) teaches at California State University, Long Beach.

» Cornelius C. Fair is a PhD candidate in the Department of Speech Communication at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

» Bradley L. Garrett is a PhD candidate in Human Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London where his research is supported by a Reid Studentship. For the past 3 years, Bradley has been doing ethnographic work with urban explorers in the United Kingdom, a group which seeks to unveil areas of the urban environment normally hidden from view. » David Hanley-Tejeda is a PhD candidate in the Department of Speech Communication at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

» Richie Neil Hao is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver.

» David M. Jenkins is a Performance Studies PhD student in the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida. He is also Producing Artistic Director for Jobsite Theater in Tampa, Florida. His primary research interest is in subversive comedic forms of performance.

» Michelle Meagher is Assistant Professor of Women�s Studies at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, where she teaches in the area of feminist cultural studies with emphases on popular culture and visual culture. Her research is concerned with feminist and feminine self-representation in contemporary art practices. She is currently engaged in a research project � The Look of Feminist Self-Portraiture � that explores shifts in the production, circulation, and reception of self-portraits by women artists working in the wake of the feminist art movement in North America and Europe, 1965 to present.

» W. Benjamin Myers (PhD, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale) is an assistant professor of Speech in the Department of Fine Arts and Communication Studies at USC Upstate.

» Melanie Kitchens O'Meara (PhD, Louisiana State University) is a Temporary Lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Georgia. Her research includes performance studies, body theory, visual culture and media, cultural memory, and historiography.

» Jonathan Prior is a PhD student in Human Geography at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests include conservation policy, aesthetics, and the development of sonic methods and practices in geography. » Brian Rosa is a PhD student in Human Geography at The University of Manchester. He is trained as an urban planner, and also works as a photographer and art curator. » Jennifer Tuder (Ph.D Southern Illinois University, Carbondale) is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Communication Studies and Theatre, Film Studies, and Dance, at St. Cloud State University. Currently, she is touring her original solo performance, Suicide Punchline. Tuder's research concerns performances of survival, grief, gender, and sexuality.

» Rebecca A. Walker (PhD, Louisiana State Univeristy) is Undergraduate Advisor and Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Texas. This essay is drawn from work in her dissertation, Eight is Not Enough: A Historical, Cultural, and Philosophical Analysis of the Flash Mob.
