Troublemaker
Marcos Santos, Allen Burnett, and Jeff Stein

In this multimedia performance piece, graduate students from a course at California State University, Los Angeles explore themes of rehabilitation through the lens of system-impacted individuals—those who have experienced the U.S. prison system.

This project was created collaboratively by a group of three students, two of whom are system-impacted and one who is not. Together, they developed a multimedia presentation that incorporates role play, scripted monologues, and video-recorded conversations. These elements work in tandem to express the emotions, struggles, and reflections of individuals affected by incarceration.

Our collective goal was to bring to life the stories, voices, and sentiments that sustain and empower the incarcerated community. Through this work, we hope to advocate for a world that embraces redemption, rehabilitation, and the possibility of transformation.

Created and performed with love and humility—for the purpose of fighting for those still fighting to be heard.
