Forced Experimentation

The women's operating room in London is far removed from the backroom shack where Sims
operated, yet for me, it becomes a symbol of Sims and his experiments. I willingly lie
down in the center of the operating table with a sense of agency that was unavailable to
the slave women. That's what it means to be enslaved, to be unable to say no to the
investigation. I can say yes. So many have passed across these operating room tables,
some with a volition to be healed and others with a fear of encountering the blade.
