The Hospital Site
The first time that we looked for the hospital site we couldn't find it. The rain poured down and the GPA insisted that this was the place. There was a mural on a wall and no one really wanted to get out of the car to investigate further. Maybe we could come back another day.
The next day was cloudy but dry. After the Sims statue, we found the parking lot that was once a hospital site. There were two plaques. We walked round and around looking for some thing that wasn't there. Petra mentioned that something was there: a parking lot, a fence, and a plaque. We could interact with them and photograph our interactions. Perhaps this is a way to relate to an absent history in the present flesh. Embodied performance practice to connect my history to the lives of the women.
