memorial to drownded women field notes
On September 23, 2006, two women drowned when the were swept into a drain pipe near Nicholasville Road. The tragedy affected many Lexingtonians deeply and a makeshift but heartfelt memorial sprang up at the site. The riders on LexTran routes 2S and 3S passed the site daily, following the story and observing the grounds closely. Even a year later, two simple wreaths and black ribbons remain.
